The Ethiopian government touts the progress made in Tigray, but civilians in conflict areas are still bearing the brunt of atrocities. Fighting has intensified in other regions of Ethiopia, as past violators repeat patterns of abuses without consequences. https://t.co/23g3jQZKGb

The Queen of Sheba's Palace in #Axum, #Tigray was excavated by French Archaeologists in the 1960s. The Queen of Sheba is the most powerful woman of history, mentioned in the Holy Bible who travelled to #Jerusalem to experience the wisdom of King Solomon of Israel first-hand.
The root of our history, culture & identity is more or less centred around the story of the Queen of Sheba.

@steve_hanke He is spending billions of dollars in building his own palace and the rest on military. He is disconnected with the need of the Ethiopian people.
@TigrayUpdate@AbiyAhmedAli The land of Tigray which is part of Ethiopia is under occupation of Eritrea and Abiy has the right to fight with Eritrea regardless of his motives.

#OHCHR :
The international community must ensure ongoing scrutiny of the human rights situation in Ethiopia and increase support for survivors of the conflict, the International Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia #ICHREE said today after delivering its final report to the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
In their address Wednesday in New York, the Commissioner highlighted wide-ranging atrocities committed in Ethiopia – some of which are ongoing despite the signing of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement in November 2022 – and serious flaws in the Ethiopian Governments transitional justice policy. It also warned of the potential for future atrocities in the country.

Don't forget us, pleads Catholic bishop in war-torn #Tigray region
Catholic Bishop in #Ethiopia's war-torn Tigray region, Tesfaselassie Medhin, is urging the international community not to overlook the dire humanitarian situation in his diocese due to the ongoing three-year conflict.
In a statement to Fides, Bishop Tesfaselassie of #Adigrat expressed grave concern for the state of the world and emphasized the need for a serious transformation. While attention is currently focused on the crisis in the Middle East, he pleads for Tigray not to be forgotten. He highlighted the severe consequences of the war, including millions of children suffering from malnutrition, widespread starvation, illness, and displacement.
Despite a peace agreement signed in November 2022, blockades and limited access to vital resources persist in Tigray. Bishop Tesfaselassie emphasized that the dire situation continues with ongoing violence, displacement, political impasses, drought exacerbated by climate change, and restricted access to water and irrigation systems. He criticized the global silence and stated that the suffering population desperately needs peace, food, basic services, and justice.
