More than 600 children are dead. Over 83,000 suspected measles cases have been reported. What should have been a preventable public health challenge has become a national tragedy marked by vaccine failures, delayed action, and unanswered questions about accountability. In an emotional testimony, the sister of a deceased Awami League leader described what she called a climate of fear, repression, and political persecution targeting Awami League supporters.
She alleged that an arrest warrant was issued against her brother while he was fighting for his life in an ICU, and remained in effect even after his death. She also claimed that political activists are being imprisoned, tortured, and subjected to violence solely because of their political affiliation.
Her remarks raise serious questions about human rights, due process, and political freedoms in Bangladesh.
"Dead people are not spared from atrocities. I leave it to the people for the verdict."

From disputed votes to deep political polarization, the story raises an important question: Can democracy thrive without public confidence in the ballot box?
Understanding todayâs challenges requires an honest look at yesterdayâs decisions.

Justice for Riya.
She was raped, killed and thrown away in a bag afterwards.
Since Ramisha isnât trendy anymore
We probably forgot that our girls are still getting raped everyday!
And that Bangladesh govt. is actively failing to protect us in every way possible with no visible justice in sight.

Jamaat Islami leader Ali Hasan brutally tortured and shaved the heads of two minority women from the Bede community in Mugda. Such atrocities happen every single day here. Attending a funeral, offering prayers, and paying final respects are basic human acts. So why were people reportedly arrested and their phones checked for attending Tofail Ahmedâs janaza?
If grief, remembrance, and funeral attendance are treated as grounds for detention, serious questions arise about civil liberties, freedom of expression, and fundamental human rights.
A society should never criminalize mourning.
