@ArchSenex@groby That’s the other part that gets me. There’s usually a fun anticipatory element to these activities — I like thinking through what I’m going to do. And sometimes when I’m reviewing my options, I realize I want to try something I didn’t have in mind initially.
@ArchSenex@groby Right, and flights and restaurant reservations are mostly solved problems anyway — they’re really easy to do yourself versus trying to train another entity to accurately do it by proxy
@MadelineRConway yeah most of the use cases seem to be things that are genuinely easier to just do myself rather than teach an agent to do it on my behalf
@PanpsychismA@BenKrauss5 The pick six one isn’t necessarily gendered. Anyone who watches football would recognize how little sense it makes, and millions of women watch football.
@OGTaylorB@cljack Obviously not if you’re the youngest, or if there just isn’t a large enough age gap (I doubt many four-year-olds are tasked with changing their siblings’ diapers).
@RWannier@ajlamesa I am under the impression that we really need social workers. I know a couple of people in that field and they are swamped with caseload. Not to mention the burnout rate.
The CDC has confirmed 3,471 cases of measles in the U.S. this year, with the current epicenter in Pennsylvania. This is the most cases reported in the U.S. since 1991. This highly contagious virus was declared eliminated from the U.S. in 2000. 🧵 1/3
@NeilFlochMD I can’t fathom why anyone would reasonably expect otherwise.
Do people think that their blood pressure is going to stay low if they remove the agent that is causing it to be lower?
@djinn_the@MarchVeryOwn4 That’s simply not correct. We know without question that humans can burn a substantial amount of calories — and lose fat as a result — through exercise. I can assure you that Tour de France athletes are not coasting on 2000 kcal a day.
@djinn_the@MarchVeryOwn4 No. The constrained model proposes that SOME calories expended via activity can be compensated elsewhere. It doesn’t mean that you return to the same TDEE regardless of activity. In fact, most current research largely supports an additive model.
