One minute. That is all it takes to listen to this beautiful voice. One minute to become her voice.

Parastoo Ahmadi, one of Iran's most beloved singers, has reportedly been sentenced to 74 lashes simply for singing. Her musicians and production team face the same punishment. In the 21st century, a woman will be lashed on her body because she dared to sing.

I want to scream. I want to shout in the street and sing loud and tell everyone: this government is killing innocent people, executing them, lashing them. This is not a normal government.

So I am calling on every famous singer, every big name, every artist with a stage and a microphone: be Parastoo's voice. Sing for her until she can sing again.

💬 Yaklaşık 30 yıl boyunca kadın gibi yaşamaya çalışan İsviçreli Chris Brönimann:

─ Ameliyattan önce sahip olduğum sağlıklı bedenimi sadece bir günlüğüne yeniden alabilmek için neler vermezdim. Böyle bir gün artık hiçbir zaman olmayacak.

─ 19 yaşındayken "trans" bir kadınla tanıştım, ondan etkilenelerek "Kadın olursam ben de mutlu olurum" diye düşündüm. Ölümcül bir yanılgıymış.

─ Önce İsviçre televizyonu, ardından tüm LGBT oluşumları gece-gündüz benim haberlerimi yapmaya başladı. Adeta "LGBT'nin bir rol modeli" hâline getirilmeye çalışıldım.

─ O dönemde doğru olanı yaptığıma inanıyordum. Trans geçmişi olan insanlara yönelik hoşgörü ve saygı konusunda insanları bilinçlendirdiğimi düşünüyordum. Dünyanın renkli ve çeşitli olduğunu göstermenin benim misyonum olduğuna inanıyordum.

─ 16 kez ameliyat oldum, çok sayıda komplikasyon yaşadım ama hiçbir zaman gerçekten ciddi biçimde "Neden?" ya da "Burada tam olarak ne yanlış gitti?" diye sorgulanmadı.

─ Aslında bir illüzyona hizmet ettim ve aynı zamanda bir illüzyon sattım. Bugün bundan gerçekten utanıyorum.

─ Umduğum özgürleşmenin aksine kendimi daha da fazla sıkışmış hissettim. Beni daha da az anladılar, ben de ruhsal ve psikolojik olarak kendimle daha da az başa çıkabildim. Bu o kadar aşırıydı ki, birkaç kez hastanede yatmam gerekti, 2006’da artık tahammül edemediğimi düşündüğüm için hayatıma son vermek istedim. Tüm bunlar geçiş sürecinden sonra yaşandı.

─ Detranzisyon (geri dönüş) yapmak, tranzisyon (geçiş) yapmaktan çok daha zordur. Sözde başarılı ve kapsamlı bir tıp sistemimiz var, geçiş sürecini teşvik ediyor ve insana tüm seçenekler yelpazesini sunuyor. Ancak geri dönüş söz konusu olduğunda aynı tıp sistemi ortadan kayboluyor. Aynı doktorlar artık orada değil ve size yardım etmek istemiyorlar.

─ Neredeyse 30 yıl "trans kadın" olarak yaşadım ve 30 yılı aşkın süredir cinsiyet hormonları kullanıyorum. Bunun ne anlama geldiğini, ne tür etkileri olduğunu gençler bilmiyor. Söz konusu olan çocuklar ve gençler. Onların korunmaya ihtiyacı var.

─ Ben sessiz kalmayacağım. Evet, "trans" aktivistlerin tüm öfkesini üzerime çekiyorum. Nefret mesajları, ölüm tehditleri alıyorum. Neden? Sırf bu çılgın konuda tüm sonuçların farkında olmamızı istediğim için.

Pistilinn birtist fyrst í staðarblaði í Stavanger en fékk einungis að vera í birtingu í tvær klukkustundir.
Fjölmiðlanefnd Noregs úrskurðaði í vikunni að pistillinn væri í andstæðu við siðareglur.

Danska blaðið Berlinske endurbirti pistilinn til stuðnings tjáningarfrelsinu og til stuðnings opinberri umræðu.
Ég hvet íslenska fjölmiðla til að gera slíkt hið sama.

Ég birti pistilinn á Substack á íslensku til að leggja mitt af mörkum til tjáningarfrelsisins. Það á að vera hægt að kynna ólíkar skoðanir, spyrja gagnrýninna spurninga og taka þátt í opinberri umræðu án þess að óttast afleiðingarnar. Tjáningarfrelsi snýst ekki aðeins um réttinn til að tjá vinsamlegar eða vinsælar skoðanir, heldur einnig um réttinn til að heyra og ræða sjónarmið sem kunna að vekja óþægindi eða andstöðu.

PLEASE REPOST! A member of @NEULGBEducator has written today to @danielkebedeneu requesting the removal of all trans-id men from the first ever @neunion Women's Conference. The decision to allow men in is in direct contradiction to the Equality Act 2010 and represents direct discrimination of women who were put on a waiting list, if not able to attend altogether, by the admission of men. As @unisontheunion have had to alter their women's conference, so too must the @neunion. Over to you Daniel and Natalie.
